Enrollment
Payment is due at the beginning of the month for all lessons that month. This keeps down on my paperwork and is easier for me to keep up with. Prices effective March 1st 2010 are $120.00 per month. Every 3rd month there are 5 weeks and the rest there are 4 so it seems easier to charge this way (120/4.33=$27.71 per lesson) and keep the payment the same every month. You are paying for your time slot so all your days (Tue., Wed or Thurs.) per month will need to be paid for. We are closed on Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day and New Years Day and make up lessons will be scheduled for these. Make ups are not scheduled if the student is out due to sickness. If I cancel lessons I will schedule make up times. During the summertime I know everyone will have vacations planned and what not but there is usually plenty of time for make ups. If you will be gone for extended periods of time during the summer we can make arrangements to only pay for the lessons you can be here for but you might not be able to keep your normal spot. i will also need 2 weeks prior to canceling lessons permanently to allow me enough time to fill the spot or you will be held responsible for 2 weeks of lessons post notice of canceling.
I know that everyone has a different schedule and practice times will vary from student to student. But it is better to practice at least 20 minutes per day than to practice 45 minutes in one sitting. It is the constant reminder of the material that keeps it fresh in our minds and makes practice not so much of a grueling task. But it also needs to be focused practice meaning concentration on the material for 20 minutes.
If it takes 30 minutes to get the 20 minutes of focused practice in that's what it might take and we've all got our good/bad days. It is also important that the parents be involved with the lessons because this helps with the focus, it can be fun for the parent and you can learn a little about music yourself even with little to no music background.
Students must provide their own copies of tabliture and notation paper which I can give them originals that they can make copies of to keep in a notebook that is to be brought to each lesson. This will remind me where we left off in the previous lesson and avoid redundancy.
Books will be recommended on a case by case scenario once the student in evaluated. All students will learn to read music.
The Metronome - Sabine MT9000 Metrotune is required by all students.
A music stand is very helpful also but not required.
Not all books are required for every student but I will circle the correct ones on this contract you will need. Bring 2 copies of this to the first lesson one signed for me and one for your records with the correct books circled.
